It is traditional in Moldova on the 2nd day after a wedding feast to enjoy Zeama, chicken soup. With a delicious taste, it is considered to be a cure for any bad mood and even the chills during cold weather. This is why it earns the title, The hero of the day.
Moldovan soups claim to be rich in vegetables and greenery, parsley, thyme, and green onions. Traditionally the base is poultry, but in some villages you may be surprised by pigeon! For the recipe you need:
1 pound of chicken or pigeon,
1 glass of noodles, preferably small shapes
2 carrots, peeled and sliced
2 parsley roots, peeled and sliced
2 onions, diced
1 celery stalk, sliced
2-3 leaves of fresh parsley, thyme, salt & pepper
Combine and cook for hours! Perhaps our young American version was derived from this old world recipe.
