As an almost senior citizen, I am an unlikely candidate to begin an overseas ministry assignment. But this is a God-story.
The five World Team members, working to train church leaders in Moldova, had become increasingly aware of the need for more focus on the spiritual needs of women and children. They had contacted the World Team headquarters to see if anyone might be available to come. They prayed, and waited. . . . .
Meanwhile, I was finishing what I knew would be my last year of administration at a child care center/preschool in Chicago, and had begun to ask God to show me what was next. In August of 2012, I received an email from World Team (which I had never heard of before). They still had my name from my 2010 response to the Finisher’s Project, a referral service for people interested in serving others during the second half of life. The World Team Representative said that they had been going through old emails, and didn’t want to miss anyone who might still be interested. A conversation began, evolved, and it turned out that I was the person with the background and training that was needed for Moldova.
My assignment is to assist in the development of women’s ministries for churches who have not yet caught the vision for women disciplining women. In partnership with Robin, we are facilitating a variety of opportunities for women’s spiritual growth and training.
